Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast
Agricultural Development Programs aim to disseminate sustainable farming practices that enhance productivity and increase net returns per unit of land. Achieving this requires a range of integrated interventions, of which establishing Fair-Price Farm Shops in village communities is a critical component.
Fair-Price Farm Shops ensure easy availability of essential production inputs such as certified crop seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and animal feed at affordable rates. These shops are managed by selected lead farmers known as “Avocators”, and the shops themselves are referred to as “Avocations”.
The project will be implemented in 15 villages of Shamli District, Uttar Pradesh. A total of 60 Avocators will be identified at the rate of four Avocators per village. These Avocators will establish Avocations within their premises to retail certified seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and animal feed.
Farmers who possess adequate resources but are underperforming in agriculture will be identified and supported to operate these Fair-Price Farm Shops, thereby turning farming into a viable and sustainable avocation.
Traditionally, farmers purchase agricultural inputs at retail prices and sell their produce at wholesale rates, allowing middlemen to capture the maximum profits. This project reverses that equation by enabling farmers to buy inputs at wholesale prices and sell their produce at retail prices.
By eliminating middlemen exploitation, Fair-Price Farm Shops significantly enhance farmers’ income, promote transparency, and strengthen the rural agricultural economy. This project stands as an epitome of farmer-centric, sustainable agricultural development.
