Farm Production Inputs Support for Small Farmers

Access to timely and quality farm production inputs is a decisive factor in agricultural productivity and farm income. Small and marginal farmers in India often face serious constraints in procuring certified seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, machinery, and animal feed at affordable prices. Exploitation by intermediaries, high retail costs, and lack of institutional support further aggravate their vulnerability.

ESFI addresses this challenge by establishing structured systems for the supply and distribution of farm production inputs under the philosophy of No-Loss No-Profit. The objective is to ensure that farmers receive genuine, high-quality inputs at reasonable prices, thereby improving productivity and reducing cost of cultivation.

The organization promotes community-based models such as Fair-Price Farm Shops and Customs Hire-Purchase Services Centers. These institutions are located within village communities and managed by trained local stakeholders. This decentralization ensures accessibility, transparency, and accountability in input delivery.

Certified seeds form the foundation of productive agriculture. ESFI facilitates access to crop-specific, climate-appropriate, and high-yielding seed varieties, along with scientific guidance on their application. Fertilizers and agrochemicals are provided with emphasis on balanced nutrient management and responsible usage to safeguard soil health and the environment.

Farm machinery and mechanization services are extended to small farmers who cannot afford capital-intensive equipment. Through hire-purchase and rental services, farmers gain access to tractors and implements at subsidized or fair rates, enabling timely farm operations and enhanced efficiency.

Livestock-based livelihoods are supported through quality animal feed and allied inputs. Improved feeding practices result in better animal health, productivity, and income from dairy and allied activities.

By strengthening farm input systems, ESFI contributes to enhanced productivity, income stability, and sustainability of farming systems. These interventions empower farmers to transition from subsistence agriculture to agriculture as a viable business enterprise.
